Paints Fall In 10 Innings on Opening Night in Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, led on three separate occasions Wednesday night, but couldn't hang on in a 10-inning, 8-7 opening night loss to the Lafayette Aviators at Loeb Stadium.
After falling behind 3-0 through two innings, the Paints (0-1) score on a Cameron Macon single, advancing to second on an error and later scoring on an RBI single from Victor Figueroa. Arturo Disla then launched a two-run home run off the videoboard in left-center, giving the Paints a 4-3 lead.
After Lafayette (1-0) tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth, Chillicothe regained the lead at 6-4 in the top of the sixth, thanks to a two-run triple from Tyler Shaneyfelt, scoring Sammy Stoner and Brayton Bowen, both of whom reached on walks earlier in the inning.
The Aviators were able to plate a run in the sixth and a run in the ninthm tying the game and sending it to extra innings.
Chillicothe was able to briefly pull ahead for a third time, scoring one run in the 10th on a Stoner RBI single, but Lafayette got a game-winning, two-out, two-run walk off hit from Michael Scott, giving the Aviators an 8-7 season-opening win.
The Paints return home to VA Memorial Stadium Thursday night for their 30th home opener.
