Ohio State's Trey Pancake Signs With Paints

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, have added Ohio State catcher Trey Pancake to the club's roster for the upcoming 2022 season, which begins Wednesday, June 1 at Champion City.

Pancake graduated from South Range High School in 2021, where he hit better than .350, reached base at a high percentage and proved to be dangerous on the base paths, while also being a plus defender behind the plate with a strong arm. For his efforts, the catcher was named to several all-conference and all-area teams and earned first-team All-Ohio honors after his senior season.

The Negley, Ohio native was honored with the Johnny Bench Award following his senior season as the top catcher in Ohio.

Pancake is expected to redshirt this spring, his first season with the Buckeyes.

The Chillicothe Paints open the home portion of their season Thursday, June 2 at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. Draft beer will be just $2 for Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Budweiser, and a Fireworks Extravaganza will follow, sponsored by 94 Country. Information regarding ticketsgroup outings, sponsorship opportunities and more is available by calling (740) 773-TEAM or by emailing the team at paints@bright.net.
