Paints Sign Marietta's Gino Sabatine

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, announce the signing of pitcher Gino Sabatine for the upcoming season, which begins on the road Wednesday, June 1.

Sabatine is a senior at the top-ranked division III team in the country, Marietta College, and owns a 5-1 record through 11 appearances, 10 starts, throwing 48 2/3 innings this spring for the Pioneers (as of May 10). 

Over parts of four seasons, the 6-foot righthander owns an 18-5 record and a 3.72 ERA in 41 career appearances, 36 being starts. Sabatine has thrown 181 1/3 career innings, allowing 75 earned runs on 89 hits, striking out 133 and walking 61.

As a junior last spring, Sabaitine was named American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Second-Team All-Mideast Region, D3baseball.com Second Team All-Mideast Region, All-Ohio Athletic Conference First-Team, Ohio Athletic Conference All-Tournament team, D3baseball.com Team of the Week Starting Pitcher and Ohio Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. 

An Alliance, Ohio native, Sabatine earned three varsity letters at West Branch High School, earning three All-Northeastern Buckeye Conference, two All-District and Academic All-Ohio honors. He helped his team win two conference titles and a sectional championship.

The Chillicothe Paints open the home portion of their season Thursday, June 2 at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. Draft beer will be just $2 for Thirsty Thursday, thanks to Budweiser, and a Fireworks Extravaganza will follow, sponsored by 94 Country.
