Paints Hosting NCAC Baseball Tournament May 11-14

After winning its third-straight North Coast Athletic Conference baseball championship with the league's first undefeated season since 2007, Denison (16-0) has earned the top seed in the 2023 NCAC Baseball Tournament, which will be played this weekend, May 11-12 and 14, at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. 

Wooster leads the league with 19 NCAC Championships. Ohio Wesleyan has captured 10 titles, while Allegheny has four, Denison has earned three and DePauw, Oberlin and Wabash have one title apiece.

Denison will open play in the tournament on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. against fourth-seeded Wabash (8-8). The Little Giants claimed the tiebreaker over Kenyon for the fourth seed in the field. In the other opening-round game on Thursday, second-seeded Wittenberg (14-2) will square off against third-seeded Wooster (11-5) at 5:00 p.m.

The double-elimination tournament continues into Friday afternoon with the winners of the first two contests squaring off at 12:00 p.m. with a slot in the championship round on the line, while the losers of the first two games will meet at 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon in an elimination game.  

The final slot in the championship round will be determined Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. with the winner of the elimination game taking on the loser of game three. The first championship game will be played Sunday at 11:00 a.m. with game seven set for 30 minutes following the conclusion of game six, if necessary. 

While Wooster leads the league with 13 NCAC baseball tournament titles, Ohio Wesleyan has captured eight tournament crowns, Allegheny and Denison own three, Wabash has earned two and DePauw and Oberlin have one tournament title apiece. Wittenberg is on the hunt for its first NCAC Tournament title.
