NAIA All-American Jhors Gomez Signs With Chillicothe

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The back-to-back Prospect League champion Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, have signed infielder Jhors Gomez for the upcoming 2024 season, which begins May 28.

Currently a junior at Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Okla., Gomez is hitting .414 with nine doubles, three home runs and 17 RBIs, while slugging .724 and owning an on-base percentage of .493 through 16 games.

Gomez was named an NAIA First-Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings after his efforts as a sophomore in 2023, when he hit .493 over 60 games, amassing 102 hits, 21 doubles, five triples, 19 home runs, 90 RBIs, slugging .918 and holding a .593 on-base percentage. He also walked 46 times against 27 strikeouts. He was also named First-Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference. His play helped the Eagles to appear in the NCCAA Baseball National Championship tournament for the eighth time in program history, where they finished second.

The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, native owns a career (as of March 15) batting average of .449 through 117 games, with 173 hits, 140 runs scored, 44 doubles, five triples, 30 home runs, 142 RBIs and has an on-base percentage of .554 while slugging .823 over parts of three seasons.
