Paints Sign Wayland Baptist Infielder Felix Polanco

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The back-to-back Prospect League champion Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, have signed infielder Felix Polanco for the upcoming 2024 season, which begins May 28.

Polanco recently finished his junior year at Wayland Baptist University, his first with the Pioneers. This spring, Polanco played in 51 games, including 50 starts, leading the Pioneers with a .337 batting average, 58 hits, 11 doubles, 40 RBIs and was second on the team with 11 home runs. Polanco recorded a 1.005 OPS and stole 14 bases on 17 attempts.

For his efforts this spring, Polanco was named second-team All-Sooner Athletic Conference.

Prior to Wayland Baptist, Polanco played JUCO baseball for two seasons at Highland Community College, compiling a .382 batting average, nine home runs and 66 RBIs. In his last season at Highland in 2023, Polanco hit .410 with 17 doubles, nine home runs and 58 RBIs over 52 games. 

A native of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, Polanco joins Paints teammates Samuel Fabian (Wayland Baptist) and Jhors Gomez (Southwestern Christian) as the third international player on this year's roster, all from Dominican Republic.
