Paints Hit Three Homers, Bowen Drives In Seven In 14-4 Win Over Kings

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, hit three home runs and Cameron Bowen drive in seven in a 14-4 eight-inning win over the Champion City Kings Sunday night at VA Memorial Stadium.

Chillicothe's (16-6) first home run of the night, a solo blast by Felix Polanco, made it 1-0 in the bottom of the second. The Paints would lead the rest of the night.

Cole Raile led off the bottom of the third with a hit-by-pitch, advancing to second on a walk by Eric Colaco, later stealing third and scoring on an RBI groundout by Tim Orr making it 2-0.

After Tyler Mendez singled with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Raile hit one off the top of the wall in right-center and out of the ballpark, extending the Paints' lead to 4-0.

Champion City (6-16) finally got on the board after lightening in the area delayed the top of the fifth from starting for 35 minutes. Reid Shultz came on to pitch for Chillicothe, walking two and hitting two to bring in the first run. The Paints turned to Felix Polanco, who was able to record all three outs without allowing a hit, but another run scored in the process and it was 4-2, but not for long.

After back-to-back strikeouts to start the bottom of the fifth for the Paints, Polanco tripled to least off the inning. Clay Burdette walked and Bowen launched his first home run of the season, padding the Paints' lead to 7-2.

Chillicothe plated four more in the bottom of the sixth, with Orr collecting another run on a groundout, a run-scoring wild pitch and a two-run single by Bowen.

After Champion City scored two in the top of the eighth, The Paints got another two-run single from Bowen and an RBI hit from Mendez, who was now the pitcher, to make it a 10-run game at 14-4, triggering the Prospect League's mercy rule for a second-straight night against the Kings.

Chillicothe hits the road for a four-game road trip Monday, playing in Huntingburg, Indiana, against the Dubois County Bombers. The Paints will play the Thrillville Thrillbillies in Marion, Illinois, Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to Huntingburg Thursday to play Dubois County again.
