Paints Blank Mill Rats 4-0

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by CohenOrthopedic, earned their first shutout of the season Tuesday night at VA Memorial Stadium, blanking the Johnstown Mill Rats 4-0.

The Paints (4-3) score first for the fifth time in their first seven games, plating the game's first run on an RBI bunt single by Justin Gorski

In the bottom of the fifth, Chillicothe added three. With a runner at third and one out, Zack Henderson hit a ground ball to third. The Johnstown third baseman appeared to throw Colin West out at the plate, but interference was called for blocking the plate without the ball and the run was counted, making it 2-0. After Henderson stole second, Cam Gravelle doubled to right field, scoring Henderson. Alex Bemis then walked and, with him at first and Gravelle at third, a double steal gave Chillicothe its fourth and final run. It's all they'd need.

Matt Moscarino (1-0) started for the Paints, earning his first win of the summer after throwing six shutout innings while surrendering just three hits, walking five and striking out two. Kale Wemer followed with two perfect innings, striking out three. Trent Hedges pitched a scoreless ninth, walking one batter and striking out the final batter of the game.

Gravelle led the Paints offensively with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Gorski had the other RBI as part of his 1-2 night at the plate. CJ Richmond, Bemis, Mitchel Szymczak and West all collected one hit each.
